Yesterday, I spoke on the Lars Larson Radio Show about staffing issues, particularly as they relate to the Gang Enforcement Team and the increase in gang related shootings. I’ve included my talking point. This is an issue that affects the very core of what we do and about which I’ve spoken numerous times in front of the Portland City Council, Mayor Hales, and Chief O’ Dea.
Portland Police Officers are out on the streets everyday doing more with fewer and fewer resources, and are working hard to deliver the types of services that the community expects and deserves. However, without increased staffing, this will continue to be an uphill battle that places our officers and the communities we serve at risk.
